Ballantine Books issues a statement announcing that their paperback edition of The Tolkien Reader is forthcoming in September of 1966. It then goes on in detail to clarify that they are the only authorized paperback publisher for Tolkien's works, and that while they acknowledge the agreement between Ace and Tolkien for royalty payments, that when Ace runs out of stock, that only the Ballantine editions will remain in print as the authorized editions.
