Tolkien replies to Miss Standeven, see Letter from Miss [Milicent] Standeven to J.R.R. Tolkien • 8 October 1946 (#2530). He thanks her for her letter about The Hobbit. He explains that he has little time to dedicate to writing, as his academic duties keep him very busy. He also remarks that he gets less done at night as he once did but states that a sequel to the earlier book is almost complete.
