Tolkien writes to Stanley Unwin. He is sorry to have missed him at Merton but is rarely there on Sundays. He remarks he has had no time to write, including on Farmer Giles of Ham.
He has seen Rayner twice and says that he is free to visit as he desires as after June he will be free of various offices which he has "held too long".
