Writing to Rayner Unwin, Tolkien remarks that he has signed and has sent the letter to Swanson. He is not confident that United Artists will concede the point raised.More details required.[1]
Tolkien and Edith had had a terrible 1968 and he updates Rayner on matters of Edith's health, and their son John who he says was close to a "nervous breakdown". He had been camped at Miramar Hotel in the hopes of getting work done but described that as impossible.
He goes on to mention unpublished writings, including The Bovadium Fragments which he says he has no intention of allowing to be published. He closes with the news that his library is in chaos as he cannot find many of his books.
