Ronald Eames writes to Tolkien on the matter of Farmer Giles of Ham. He has found five possible illustrators and would like, if possible, for Tolkien to visit London to see them.

On 30 August 1948 the letter is sent again as Eames realized that Tolkien was not at Merton College.Hammond and Scull assume that the second letter was sent to the Oratory School.[1]
