In reply to Carpenter's Letter #115 (J.R.R. Tolkien to Katharine Farrer, 15 June [?1948]), Katharine Farrer writes to Tolkien. She expresses her enthusiasm for the new work and remarks that she especially likes the "Flat World" version most.Hammond and Scull remark that it was possibly this "opinion that leads Tolkien to abandon, for a time, any attempt to alter the cosmology of ‘The Silmarillion’ to that of a Round World with the Sun existing from the beginning."[1]
