Tolkien replies to a Mrs. L.F. who had written to remark on her enjoyment of the Lord of the Rings. He is pleased to receive her letter and remarks that he enjoyed writing the book. He says that it was "written entirely for" his "own pleasure". Tolkien closes with mention of he has returned to writing on "Middle Earth" and is contracted to write a book on the First Age.
