After hearing that Tolkien was having problems with Collins over their proposed publication of The Lord of the Rings, Stanley Unwin writes to Tolkien to tell him that the door remains open to them publishing it. He asks Tolkien to send his Silmarillion for Rayner to read, noting that he has never seen it.
