TCG Letter #2821

From
J.R.R. Tolkien
To
Stanley Unwin
Date
13 November 1950
Type
Unknown
Transcript
Unknown
Writing to Stanley Unwin, Tolkien opens with apologies for not replying to two previous letters, both kind according to Tolkien. He remarks that the Chairman of his Faculty had died just as term began, and it resulted in him being pressed with many matters. During this, he was required to attend a conference in Liège. He notes that he has sent The Silmarillion to GA&U and will look in his "drawers" for other texts that might be of interest.
Notes
The two letters that Tolkien refer to are Letter from Stanley Unwin to J.R.R. Tolkien • 23 October 1950 (#2809) and Letter from Stanley Unwin to J.R.R. Tolkien • 6 November 1950 (#2814)

In Letter from Susan Dagnall to Stanley Unwin • 1 November 1950 (#2812) Susan Dagnall had reported on Tolkien drawers of texts, and in this present letter we see Tolkien make mention of checking his drawers. It does now seem likely that Stanley Unwin's inquiry about Sir Gawain is connected.
