Tolkien discusses various matters including academic news, Hebrew, work with The Jerusalem Bible on the Book of Jonah.
Michael George had been reading The Lord of the Rings while on holiday, and Tolkien remarks he is "glad" that it has been met with excitement. He hopes that Michael George has kept us his Spanish studies. Tolkien has "been elected a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature", which he believes is connected to The Lord of the Rings and he remarks that the Dutch translation, He says that Dutch is not a nice language, but he has had to "swot" up on it.
