TCG Letter #2887

From
J.R.R. Tolkien
To
Alina Dadlez
Date
23 November 1960
Type
Unknown
Transcript
Partial
Tolkien thanks Dadlez for sending him a copy of the Polish Hobbit. He wants to review the translation with Professor Mroczkowski, and he thinks the illustrations are 'Mordoresque'. He also sends along a letter from a woman who wants to translate The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings into Japanese. Tolkien told this woman that she should find a publisher in Japan, and have them contact George Allen & Unwin. The woman says that someone else is already making a translation for the publisher Iwanami, and Tolkien enquires to Dadlez if Iwanami has been in touch with GA&U about it.
