(did you mean Carpenter's Letter #350?)

TCG Letter #350 / Carpenter Letter #134

J.R.R. Tolkien
Rayner Unwin
29 August 1952
Tolkien provides an update on his personal affairs, expressing his eagerness to publish "The Lord of the Rings" as soon as possible. He highlights the challenge of typing expenses, which led him to create only one fair copy himself. To ensure accuracy, Tolkien plans to spend some days correcting the manuscript at his son's cottage on Chiltern-top.

Tolkien suggests meeting on September 10th to discuss the publication or, if more convenient, for the recipient to visit him. He shares that he made tape-recordings of parts of "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings," specifically the Gollum-passages and some sections of Elvish, and proposes the idea of the BBC being interested in them. He mentions the tape-reel being in the possession of George Sayer, who could forward it for consideration.
