Tolkien writes to his Physician Extraordinary (Doctor Tolhurst) and asks if he can go and stay with him and his wife. Tolkien also talks about the Middle-English poem Sumer is icumen inhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sumer_is_icumen_in[1] and translates some of the text.

The owner notes that his wife's sister accompanied the doctor "to visit with some books to sign. He [Tolkien] signed several and when they were leaving they remembered that they had left mine in the car so they brought it back for him to sign. Later that evening he was taken into hospital and died".
