Tolkien is confused by the request from A.C. Cawley, and he does not approve of his project regarding Sir Gawain and the Green Knight.
Notes
A.C. Cawley had written to Tolkien regarding Sir Gawain and the Green Knight and from Tolkien's reply we can deduce that there had perhaps been some mind to use Tolkien's own poem in an edited form.

A book would be published in 1962 by J. M. Dent & Sons.
