Tolkien writes to Benjamin, and thanks him for buying The Lord of the Rings and answers a question on the height of Amon Hen, he doubts it was much over 1,000 feet. He also mentions that Hobbits are rustic but not primitive. Noted by the Bodleian in private correspondence, Tolkien also discusses the religion of the hobbits, the weight of helmets, the nature of Sauron and the geougraphy and datings of the Third Age in "current reckoning".

This letter is held at the Bodleian, labeled 'MS. Eng. c. 5374, fols. 86-7'.
