TCG Letter #588

This letter is dated 11 May 1965 and was originally a stock reply to her letter of appreciation. Tolkien discovers the letter on 4 October, when he adds an apology which was handwritten. Tolkien explained that the letter was not posted due to "a change of secretary, and a heavy load of work suddenly imposed on me by U.S.A. 'pirates'".
