TCG Letter #638 / Carpenter Letter #264

From
J.R.R. Tolkien
To
Joy Hill
Date
11 September 1964
Type
Unknown
Transcript
Partial
Tolkien really does not like the design of HMCo's Tree and Leaf. He comments negatively on Carole Ward's proposal for a serialization of The Lord of the Rings on BBC 2 (Television). He hopes the person who requested to dramatize one of his works with puppets will never be heard from again. He wonders if Rembrandt Films in America will ever produce anything. He notes that he spotted a lot of errors in the GA&U paperback Tree and Leaf, and wonders if sending in a list would be helpful should it be reprinted.

Additional quotes from this letter can be found in Chronology. The original letter is held in the Tolkien-George Allen & Unwin archives, HarperCollins.
