As with Tolkien's ealier letter Letter from J.R.R. Tolkien to H.F.B. Brett-Smith • 22 July 1925 (#67)[1] this handwritten letteralso over 2 pages[2] finds Tolkien again discussing academia at Leeds University. He promises Brett-Smith that he will share more of his poetry with him. He goes on to complain about the tedious work that correcting examination papers entails.An extract was publish in Catalogue 37: Books from a Private Library (with Additions), item 161.[3]

The original letter is now held at The Marion E. Wade Center.
