This is the 1st impression of the one-volume Deluxe Edition of the Lord of the Rings, published by Allen and Unwin (London, 1969). A MINT example of a highly collectable book (no wear, no tears, no defects,no marks). Housed in the original publisher's slipcase which has protected the book itself for over 50 years, only the 1st and 2nd impressions were issued with the slipcase. This edition is printed on Indian Paper, making the full 3 volumes bound into a single book, only 1 inch thick. The black buckram cloth has the Tolkein design depicting the Numenorean throne with "Elandil" in tengwar, stamped on the upper cover in gilt, silver and green. Lettered in gilt to spines, gilt edges, both folding maps bound in mint condition. Mottled black and grey wove endpapers, all edges trimmed and speckled light green. Delivery by Sendle, door to door pick-up and delivery. Estimated cost of postage by standard postage is an approximation only and will vary depending upon weight of protective packaging included and buyer location. Additional cost of insurance is recommended for this item at buyer's discretion.
