OXFORD POETRY1915 EDITED BY G.D.H. Cole AND T.W. Earp ________________________________ Publication DetailsPublisher: B. H. BlackwellPlace: OxfordPublication Date: 1916Edition: Second Impression, January 1916Language: English Physical DimensionsFormat: Soft Cover Dimensions: 13.2cm x 19.5cm x 1.1cmPages: viii, 72pp + 1pp ads About this Book Dark blue quasi yap paper covers with title pasted on front and spine. Pencilled notes on half-title page rubbed out. Light staining. Outside page edges hand-torn. Good clean condition throughout. A very scarce title! This anthology contains the poem Goblin Feet by Tolkien.A poem written by Tolkien for his wife-to-be. There was some conjecture about whether three impressions were printed. The first in 1915, and the second and third being in 1916 (no sighting of the third impression has been recorded). There is also a verse by Naomi Mitchison, who would later become a devotee of Tolkien's works. Interestingly one of the editors (Earp) has included six of his own poems (one wonders why). Was it that difficult to obtain permission to publish poems written by other poets? Please check pictures and don't hesitate to ask if you have any queries! H24
