Condition: All in jackets with prices displayed. A few minor signs of wear and aging. Very good.
For sale is a set of The Lord of The Rings published by The Readers Union with permission of George Allen & Unwin in 1960. This is a first edition set which is probably produced with sheets from the 9th impression of The Fellowship of The Ring plus 7th impression sheets from The Two Towers and 6th impression sheets from The Return of The King. The artist used for the jacket is a bit of a mystery but was possibly a member of staff for The Readers Union. The design on the front of the jacket is also a mystery but is presumed to be the eye of Sauron. The jacket are all complete with a few tiny nicks and wear at the edges. All the spines are sunned and The Return of The King has a few marks on the back but all are generally bright and in very good condition. The books are all free of inscriptions and have only a few marks or ghosting on the endpapers. The top edges are tinted but are speckled which could be foxing although the text survives such marks. A very good set.Postage will be Royal Mail 2nd class signed for.
