The Father Christmas Letters (1985)

While hanging around on the British Film Institute database, looking for some other informations about Tolkien, I discovered a curiosity. In 1985, a UK TV screen company planned an adaptation of the Father Christmas Letters :

I was unable to find more information, except that apparently the "Project dropped, as Filmscreen cease trading". Hammond & Scull's Reader's Guide don't mention it.

PS: I was not sure where to post this... I choose Adaptations, but feel free to move it in a more correct location :)

Very interesting, thank you Druss. I have never come across this previously either.

Thanks for sharing! It seems to imply it was broadcast on 3 May 1985 if I am reading that BFI page correctly. Could be incorrect of course. Clicking through Filmscreen International shows other projects in 1986 and 1987 that made it to screen, so they didn't apparently cease trading in 1985. Curious! Would love to learn more about this project.

I saw the supposed broadcast date but dismissed it as I imagined that any FCL TV show would air in later December.

Agreed - doesn't feel like it would have received a broadcast screening outside of the festive season, especially in those days.
