Published by HarperCollins in 1997. Quarto quarter maroon leather and cloth. Stamped in gilt along the spine and with a dragon in gilt to the front. All pages edges are gilt. Faux marbled endpapers. The publication marked the 60th Anniversary of the first publication of The Hobbit in 1937. #284/600 copies, signed by the illustrator, Alan Lee. Produced exclusively for Hatchards. This was the first edition of The Hobbit to be illustrated by Lee.
A fine copy in about fine cloth slipcase that matches the book. The slipcase has a couple of light scuffs.
