This sale is for a set of Lord of the Rings trilogy hardbacks all with dustjackets and complete with maps in the rear of each volume. They comprise of:1. Fellowship of the Ring, a 12th impression published in 1962.2. The Two Towers, a 9th impression published in 1962.3. The Return of the King, a 9th impression published in 1962. All three volumes are bound in red cloth with gilt spine titles, the Two Towers has a decorative red top edge the other 2 editions have a regular non coloured top edges. All three books have bindings in reasonable condition and are free from any obvious structural wear, beyond light rubbing and engrained dust. Unfortunately pages 159 - 162 of the Return of the Kind have been torn and are mostly detached, though there may be scope for repair.Apart from these aforementioned pages the books pages are otherwise in good condition just a little yellowed with age, no additional tears, damage or heavy foxing. The Two Towers and Return of the King have inscriptions on their front free end papers, however the Fellowship of the Ring does not. Each of the three books is complete with fold out maps attached and each are in great condition without any rips, tears or damage. The jackets are present but pretty worn; the worse being the Return of the King which has a loose rear flap (though present). On the upside each of the jackets retain their price marks of 21 Shillings and their corresponding impressions. A nice set of early Tolkien reprints with jackets which look great lined up on a shelf a great collection filler, till that elusive first turns up!Due to the age / rarity of the set I prefer to auction so sorry I am not ending early or offering any buy it now prices. Thanks for looking.
