The Hobbit,J.R.R. Tolkien1st edition3rd impression1942 The black and white illustration of Mirkwood was removed from this and later printings. This was a lower quality edition produced to the Book Production War Economy Standard. 1.509 copies bound, very few have survived especially with the extremely rare dust-jacket! The Dust-jacket is also printed to war economy standard and is much thinner very very few copies survived! Condition: As an be seen in the pictures the dust jacket has many chips with some loss to the, spine browned and some fraying along the creases. the Dust jacket is very fragile but is all in one piece. The book is in very good condition The book is firm, externally very good with some light rubbing to extremities, a few spots and smudges, slight bump to corners. Two worm holes on lower hinge behind the 'H' of Hobbit, 3cm worm track on lower endpaper down part of the lower hinge adjacent. Contents firm and oherwise in very good clean condition, some light water stains to top half of foredge through final third or so of the block, though this is fairly minor. Light crease to top outer corner of initial couple of quires, though this appears to be the offset from a paper crease/flaw on the front free endpaper-again a minor detraction. Overall a good clean copy as viewed in images, with a good unrestored jacket. Please look at pictures and if you wish for more message me, willing to deliver book in person within the UK.
