Tolkien, edited by his son, Christopher Tolkien. This is the ‘Export Edition’ printed by Clowes & Sons with the correct unpriced dust-jacket. It is the first of two variants having a blue and white striped headband and a dark blue dyed top edge (see last picture). There are a couple of small errors indicating that this was printed before the second variant (which lacks the headband and has an unstained top edge) such as the ‘and’ in “Lord of the Waters and King of the Sea.” still being printed in italics on page 352 (see eleventh picture).
