Selling here is a three volume set of J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings Trilogy, all published in London, by George Allen and Unwin Ltd, 1965. All later impressions; The Fellowship of the Ring is a fourteenth impression in its correct dustjacket, The Two Towers and The Return of the King are both eleventh impressions in their correct dustjackets.

8vo, three volumes, uniformly bound in original publishers red cloth gilt, all upper page edges red. Period plain endpapers. The Fellowship and Two Towers with blue ink manuscript gift inscriptions dated 1965 and 1966 to upper fe's. Measuring approx 15cm by 23cm. 

The contents of each volume have been collated and are complete, each with a folding map at rear as called for.
                                                                         
Condition: The bindings are holding firmly and good condition, lightly marked, bumped to spine ends and rubbed to extremities rubbing to spine ends and corners, slight leans toward upper board. Dust jackets all with price intact, lightly rubbed, dustmarked and browned to spines/extremities and turn-in folds, internally toned; The Fellowship with staining and loss toward head of spine, foot of spine with notable portion of loss; Two Towers chipping and creasing at head of spine, nicks and a small tear at head of turn-in folds; Return of the King with creasing and short tears at head/foot of spine, short tears to turn-in folds, 3cm closed tear through first line of title and more notably browned to this panel. Contents to each volume are holding firmly and in very good clean condition if very lightly toned with an odd minor crease or mark to a page edge. All maps in very good clean condition. Ink manuscript gift inscriptions as noted above.
