The Farmer Giles of Ham, First Bristish Edition, First printing, Georges Allen & Unwin, 1949Contains the second fairy tale by J.R.R. Tolkien published for the masses in 1949, 8 years after the first publication of the Hobbit. Very scarce book. Illustrated throughout by Paulines Baynes, including 2 plates in colour.Conditions are very good. The dust jacket has the slightest wear, with some tiny tears on front and back. It is not priced clipped, showing the price of 6 s. Cloth is in very good condition, with 3 tiny little nibs on the front.The previous owner name is very neatly inscribed on the front free end paper, otherwise no inscription.
