An original copy of the Sixteenth impression of the Tolkien's "The Hobbit" complete with dustwrapper from 1966.
"In a hole in ground there lived a hobbit, Not a nasty dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat; it was a hobbit hole, and that means comfort.
8vo. Hardback.
Original boards with some marking to foot of front cover. First 5-6 leaves have damp damage to foot of leaf - see photos. Smells musty. No inscriptions. Some spotting to edges.
The original dustwrapper has a chip to bottom foot of front panel and to head of spine. Watermarking and heavy staining to reverse of wrapper and to front flap.
The dustwrapper has been loosely laid in white backed archival dustwrapper protector.
Far from the best copy but an opportunity to pick up a copy of an original 1960's Hobbit with correct dustwrapper very cheaply.
