A remarkable and highly collectible early Allen & Unwin boxed set in excellent condition. The books are bright, clean and fresh throughout, with no inscriptions. The dust jackets are bright, with the usual spine fading but no chips, nicks or tears. They have been protected in Mylar sleeves, apparently since new, and are exceptionally well preserved. No tape marks to the books.
There is mild foxing to the text blocks and a slight lean to The Fellowship of the Ring. The original box shows general wear commensurate with age, with a split to the lower right-hand corner neatly repaired with tape.
Overall, an increasingly scarce boxed set in such attractive, original condition.
