You're welcome, Trotter

I already have it, but they usually go for at least double the price (it tends to vary a lot).

For those who don't really care about impressions, reprints, etc --I think this, with free UK postage (think of how much this would cost to post!), is a not bad price:

eBay item 87593286 (Buy-it-now £81.80)

I purchased a book from these guys (speedyhen.co.uk via eBay) a few weeks back. When postage was taken into account, they were by far the cheapest, and it arrived in Australia in 5 days. Packaging was exactly as per Book Depository (i.e. pot luck if the item was going to get damaged), but my book came through fine, so I was happy.

Do the books themselves have new copyright statements or anything Stu? The original set had first impressions (2002) of the standard hardbacks, but the set was re-released in 2011 according to HarperCollins. I don't know if you have the original set, is the slipcase (or anything else) exactly the same? What impressions are in your set?

The slipcases are not absolutely identical. It is very similar, but the reprint box is thinner, particularly on the top/bottom. It really isn't robust enough for three heavy books, in my opinion.

Impressions are 6,5 and 5. No new copyright statement (bears the original 2002).

I wouldn't recommend anyone who has the original bothering to get the reprint, but it is an adequate substitute for someone who hasn't got the earlier one. I think I paid AUD $160 shipped from Book Depository when the reprint was released, so same ballpark price to the eBay one.

This is an interesting book, very different illustrations from what what you may have seen before, my favourite is the Balrog and I can even excuse the wings
