We are proud to announce the release in May 2021 of the unabridged audiobook of Unfinished Tales by J.R.R. Tolkien, edited by Christopher Tolkien. This will be the first ever audio recording of this pivotal Middle-earth book, and will be brought to life through the combined vocal talents of father and son, Timothy West CBE and Samuel West.
It will be released in the UK on the 6th May 2021.
I have been enjoying walking with audio books through the last year and must admit I have enjoyed this Father and Son reading previous books so I'll give this a go too.
Hm, I didn't think that one would be possible, along with The History of Middle-earth and The History of The Hobbit, due to the various Notes, etc.
It will be interesting to hear how they handle the notes on this one and I suspect if it works we may well see more audio books in the future. The Book of Lost Tales has been read previouslyin the US and while dry it works fine. The West's could read most Tolkien in my opinion.
Great News! I really enjoyed both The Fall of Gondolin and Beren & Luthien. On the other hand it is true that Unfinished Tales is a very difficult book to handle as audiobook and the Tuor will be a complete repetion of that given in the Gondolin book.

All I'll say is that 2023 is the 40th anniversary of The Book of Lost Tales: Part 1.
Tuor will be a complete repetion of that given in the Gondolin book.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the version given in Unfinished Tales slightly more heavily edited? But yes, for all intents and purposes it is the same.
