I have been staring at this the last couple of hours. This is Tirion right? Two Trees of Valinor? Quite a stunning image.

Amazon moves production of Lord of the Rings TV series to UK

It is understood that the Tolkien estate had been keen for the series to be shot in the UK, the land that inspired JRR Tolkien’s original books, although did not have any right to determine the TV production’s location.

As an NZ taxpayer, I'm really glad to see them go. With these kinds of taxpayer gifts to companies there are always projections of great benefits to the country, and they always fall down when poked at. Fundamentally these deals give Amazon a break and funnel the taxpayer money into the already wealthy owners of production companies. I think we have had a lucky escape, and the UK will keep having to bend over for Amazon. In this case the NZ deal was clearly to gain leverage to squeeze the UK a bit harder.

TL;DR I despise Amazon and the less NZ has to do with them, the better.

I guess at some point it will be leaked how much the UK have paid for this and everyone will be shocked
