Does not look sumptuous to me, will be giving it a miss.

Also I think "Ultimate" is not a great name for this, as what do you call the next release?

In a follow up tweet, TheOneRing.net acknowledged that this was a fan-made image. Unfortunately, it seems lately they are in rush to break news without confirming (see their reporting that Ted Nasmith had been retained by Amazon).

Some details were posted to Blu-ray.com about new extras too. Nothing that would make me want to buy this new set though.

Having bought the 4K sets already, I really don’t see anything of real value to make me want to buy this…

The old Middle Earth Collector’s edition was a much better effort (though expensive)

The thought of extended versions of the three Hobbit films makes me nauseous. If anything, they should release a 2 hour cut.

I bought the Steelbooks last year and am very happy with the packaging. But as for the 4K transfers themselves, they are a horror show. The Two Towers is unwatchable imo and Return of the King not far behind. Fellowship is only saved in a small way by the removal of the green tint. In more than 200 4K transfers I own, only Terminator 2 beats this release for the horrific butchering done. This new UCE is typically Warner sadly and I won't be going anywhere near it.

I will not watch the 4Ks again.

I was wondering whether the films are appreciated or not on this website.

For me the hobbit movies are terrible to say the least and I still haven't got over the fact that the extended edition of ROTK is actually worse than the theatrical version (Gandalf staff broken and so on).

Oh well, maybe it's just me. :)

We tend to not discuss on this board, the Peter Jackson films that much as most members seem to be much more interested in other adaptations, such as audio-books, BBC Radio adaptations, Bakshi and Rankin Bass productions.

I am much more interested in these than the Peter Jackson films, I can watch the PJ Lord of the Rings but can't think of anything worse than watching his production of The Dwarves.
