Hello guys,
I just had the chance to get a 1997 hobbit limited edition and took it immediately.

It did came with a dustjacket though, which I never saw before, did you ever see one with it?

Oh and by the way if any of you is willing to sell me the matching Silmarillion I'd be grateful.

Books in slipcases do not have dust-jackets, that is what the slipcase is for. The jacket is from a Trade edition.

No chance

You are in trouble Mauro :) There is a voice in the back of my head saying i just need a few more of these beautiful hobbits. I'm trying to ignore it. Congrats on your finds...beowulf and the critics especially.

Yeah, that's what I thought also. Oh well, extra protection won't hurt.

Worth saying there was that set of 1992 deluxe quarterbound three volume LoTR that had mismatching numbers and appeared to have been re-issued from the publisher/warehouse with dustjackets (I'm guessing they were returns from damaged sets). laurel bought them (I was second bidder - bah!). I believe he then resold them sans the jackets.

That's often the case, but not always. For example, the recent German deluxe illustrated edition of Der Herr der Ringe has a dust-jacket despite being slipcased.

Also the recent "deluxe" GA&U Remembrancer.

Plus every other slipcased set with jackets. There are a great many. I think Trotter was being a bit imprecise here & was perhaps thinking of "super deluxe" editions in particular?

You are quite right, I actually meant to state "Tolkien deluxe books", though I am sure am exception can be found for these as well.
