Wasn't the original color of the fellowship in this edition, yellow? Not orange?
These facsimiles are produced by Mark over at Dustjackets.com and he does fantastic work. He gets them as close to the original as possible. However it’s difficult to account for what happens to paper with age, especially paper with color that is exposed to all different kinds of environments over a 70 year period.
Here are 3 early prints of FOTR (from left to right 1, 4, 9) you can probably tell which is the facsimile.
Oh cool, thanks for the comparison!
I thought it was probably Marks work. He is great :) I've ordered quite a few facsimile jackets from him and his son in the past. I've had a few of the first UK edition jackets from him come blue/green, rather than white. It seems that color accuracy is harder than it sounds. When I spoke to him about it, he obviously worked very hard to correct my order and the most recent set I got from his is probably as close to perfect as possible. I'm sure he'd be willing to adjust the color from orange to more of a yellow if anyone asked him to.

Malvern, where the seller is based, is often thought to have inspired Middle Earth(sic), the setting of many of Tolkien's books including The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.
It is sometimes said the Malvern Hills were the inspiration for the White Mountains.

The original listing had the signature as "Phillipa Bryan" and not "Phillipa Boyens", which implies that at least one of the signatures is fake. The name was changed when it was relisted.

Not sure where this came from, being sold from the US, but can't find that Allen & Unwin had a US subsidiary.
