Here's another 'leather' set.
At least the price is more reasonable than others.

Stu,
Bidding has ended on the first 'leather bound' set without being sold, no surprises there.
As I now know that you "kwon nuhting aobut Tolkein boks" then in future I might consider the very very very poor leather imitations on my not Book Club Guild Publishing books as real leather because she told you so.

The picture really sells this book to me, you even get a chance to see it in larger size

The vendor does say he's open to 'sensible offers'. My copy cost £10.00, but that was a long time ago. ..

"What a bargain!!!
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/J-R-R-TOLKIEN-P ... 2|39%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50"
The seller has updated his listing but it still makes no sense and reads like a Nigerian 419 email (ALL IN CAPS), I can't find any sale on Beren's site at the prices quoted.

"NB - BEING AN ORIGINAL LIMITED EDITION THE LAST SALE OF THE SAME BOOK SOLD FOR $950 {£600} THROUGH THE TOLIEN (sic) LIBRARY.CHECK OUT THEIR WEBSITE-
I,M (sic) NOT GOING TO PUSH THIS SALE- ITS (sic) A GOOD SALE PRICE - MY ITEMS ON EBAY NEED TO FIND THE RIGHT BUYER- AND IT (sic) WILL "
Update - The text above has now been removed from the listing, I assume the seller looks at this site, as they also keep changing the price (need to reduce it to 10% to get a sale though)

I thought this one might appeal to Stu as the books are upside down in the picture
though the slipcase is the right way up
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/J-R-R-TOLKIEN-L ... b1cc&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
Though on my copy the original purchaser decided to put a lot of sellotape on the slipcase, it has not gone brown yet but it's only a matter of time
Anyone have any "miracle" cures for the evil that is called "sellotape" in the UK?

You, sir, are a gentleman. Normally I have to invert my laptop to get the images to look correct for this hemisphere!

Another "Leather" Guild Lord of the Rings.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/The-lord-of-the ... 22eb&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
"You are looking at
The lord of the rings
By J.R.R. Tolkien
This is a Full leather bound edition, printed by Guild Publishing.
No damage to guilding what so ever.
spine undamaged, no corner knocks,
leather in a good condition."
This is amazing as the book has no leather whatsoever.
"No mark ink markings on pages,
All my books are kept on there sides, so no shelf lean!
Book will be very well protected, when sent through post."
I think the "leather" may disappear in the post.
I am very disappointed that the general public can not tell if a book has a paper cover (as this one does) or a leather cover, surely anyone would know the difference, though this Hobbit Seller doesn't
