I learned about the Ancrene Wisse earlier this year and almost ordered a copy until I read up on it a bit and learned that it's not a translation into modern English and the main text is still written in Middle English, which is pretty hard to actually read if you're unfamiliar with it.

Not to mention it's in the AB language, not in Chaucerian London Middle English, which makes it even harder!
