I have inherited the above box set from my dad and on investigation it seems it is quite a treasured and possibly valuable set. It sat on my dad's bookshelf for a number of years and although it is no longer wrapped up, I don't think the books have really been read (from memory we were told we had to read the old paperback versions instead). So, am I right in thinking they are valuable? And if so, should I be looking after them better than just transferring them to my bookshelf?
Yep, that’s the one! Mine is a higher number but they are so lovely. I’m not sure I’d sell them - they have such good memories of my dad and my childhood, but I also don’t want them to decrease in value if there is some way I should be protecting them.
That's fab! Thank you for your help. I'm slowly working my way through some things that have been passed on to me - I think there was some LOTR artwork too. Things that I vaguely remember my dad quietly geeking out over when I was a child and now, as an adult, finding my own joy in owning them! (For context, my dad died young and my mum just boxed some stuff up and stored it. Couldn't face getting rid but also wasn't really her 'thing'. She's moving so we keep getting nuggets of treasure passed on from her - which is not only a lovely reminder but also some beautiful items too)
