London’s Royal Albert Hall will play host to live orchestral performances of the entire The Lord Of The Rings trilogy next year.
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the original release of The Fellowship Of The Ring, the London Philharmonic Orchestra will perform Howard Shore’s familiar score to all three of Peter Jackson’s original films across two separate weekends, with the films being shown on the Hall’s 40-foot screen behind the orchestra.
The first run through will begin on Thursday 30 April 2026, with the second starting on Saturday 9 May 2026. The shows will be part of the venue’s ‘Films In Concert’ series and will mark the first time the entire trilogy will be presented back-to-back with full orchestra in the UK.
Tickets for all performances are on sale now, with special discounts for those wishing to book tickets to all three films.

Pricey movie tickets: I remember the Symphony in Six Movements was an actual ‘concert’ (no movie playing)

The tickets are between £45-150 I believe. That is remarkably cheap. When I was last at the RAH I paid £180 a ticket to see a band. No movie or hundred strong live performers.
In an age of increased costs, I see this as a steal.

I just meant I’d prefer orchestra only - no movie to go with it (ala typical Hollywood Bowl concert or the Six Movements concerts)

Ahh I see. That was not clear from the comment, especially the mention of it being pricey.
The reality is that the musicians and singers for a performance like this would be lucky to earn very low hundreds and with all of the rehearsals, home rehearsals, costs of instrument upkeep, etc, they would be taking home less than minimum wage for a lot of concerts.

The music for the Symphony in Six Movements is significantly lesser in duration (around 2 hours) compared to the Live to Projection performances (almost 8.5 hours) which is as near to the complete score as possible, given these are the theatrical and not the extended editions.
