Good job finding one! I thought I had uncovered a copy a few weeks ago in New York City, but after checking the text block it was unfortunately an 8th printing.

Thank you Lance. It's really the text block that will tell you the printing indeed (without a dust jacket to help). Binding colour is bit more dark for the 7th, and text block width also a bit thicker than the 8th.

Dear all,
Here are some pictures of my new acquisitions from the last 6 months.

- Some artbooks and illustrated editions, including :
the scarce deluxe edition of the Silmarillion (1998) both signed by Ted Nasmith and Christopher Tolkien (was looking for this book for years, I'm very happy to add it to my collection).
The Dream of Aegus, illustrated and signed by Ted Nasmith (wonderful paintings).
The Art of Mercy, featuring very charming paintings by Miriam Ellis
The Fall of Arthur deluxe edition ,1st/1st with a remarque by illustrator Bill Sanderson (I know have all 4 deluxe illustrated, signed and remarqued by him)
Finally a very special item, a copy of the first paperback edition of Unicorn/Unwin Paperbacks Unfinished Tales, signed by Christopher in France in 2006 in the Var countryside (South of France where the Tolkien are established since the late 70s). According to the book history shared by the seller, this book is from Christopher's personnal library, and therefore was his own copy. I'm very proud to have it in my collection and is one of the most precious and meaningfull items I have.

- Some editions of the Hobbit, including
the first japanese edition from 1965 (from the library of Joy Hill). As it belonged to Joy Hill, I'm nurturing the dream it could have the one touched by Tolkien in one of the Pamela Chandler's photographies.
one of the most elusive french edition of the Hobbit published in 1992 (cover by Roger Garland)
The scarce ELT/Unwin paperback edition published for the german market
The first Taiwanese edition (1st/1st)
the 1995 second state (10th impression/1st with the green runes borders)
the variant cover of the 1997 illustrated edition

- Different editions, including and italian edition of the Silmarillion (club degli editori); 1955 and 1963 editions of Sir Gawain and green knight, Poems of Magic and Spells (1960), including Goblin feet, and others

- Academic works, including some volumes of the Tolkien Studies, and all 3 volumes of the french anthology La Feuille de la Compagnie directed and edited by the great french scholar Michaël Devaux, who signed all three in person at the College des Bernardins in march.

- A scarce item I saw in the Aubusson weaves Tolkien at the Bernardins (signed by Tolkien, from the collection of Pieter Collier) : An Egyptian Reading book for beginners, 1896 printing (the one Tolkien owned in his personnal library). Tolkien quoted this work (and the Tale of the two brothers, an old egyptian tale from the Middle Kingdom) in his essay On Fairy stories.

Finally, some editions of the Lord of the Rings:

The boxset from 1959, scarce fourth state with the linen covered box.

The one volume paperback, 11th impression from 1972 with a well preserved spine

The first taiwanese edition, first printings.
