Red Book
Today arrived the Red Book of Westmarch Replica, illustrated. Created by Panagiotis Mantas, Παναγιώτης Μαντάς. Very happy I went for this book. Like its LR namesake it is a handwritten and when the writer changed so does the handwriting. Amazing effort on PM’s part. Saw post of other folk’s copy and investigated. Now I have one of fifty copies. One of the coolest extras was the letter from Bilbo to Frodo with the “whole truth” of how Bilbo found the Ring. Also Hobbit map with Moon runes only visible if held up to strong light. (attached)
Here is the youtube page:
“The manuscript is the diary of Bilbo and Frodo Baggins, in which they capture the memoirs of their adventures. When both of them sailed from the Grey Havens, the blank remaining pages were left to be filled by Samwise Gamgee, Merriadoc Brandybuck, Aragorn, Legolas, Elanor, Eomer, Gimli, Barahir, and Findegil.
The original pages were created with dip pens and the same ink used in the movies. Then each page professionally scanned and printed onto chamois paper with rough worn out pages to create the illusion of aging and bound in a Cervo semi-leather cover.”
