As we see more members signing up, we would like to extend a very warm welcome to you all.

Whether you lurk to find out what is new in Tolkien publishing and collecting or choose to join in, we would like to point you to some resources that can help you further, whether it be to collect new books, or to find out more about our guides.

Upcoming Tolkien Events

Upcoming Tolkien Events has a range of details on new publications, auctions, events such as conferences and talks, as well as other interesting upcoming matters connected to Tolkien. You can use the locations to see where books are being published and to find out where to purchase or sign up.

Guide to Tolkien's Letters

The Guide to Tolkien's Letters, our ongoing project to detail important letters from, to, and about JRRT can help researchers and readers alike to find out more of what Tolkien wrote in correspondence about his work, his life, and beyond. (We are currently working on a range of new guides for the website but in the meantime it is worth checking the old guide that still has a wealth of important information. See the Old Guide for more details.)

Articles

We have a page dedicated to articles found at the site and these will be very useful especially for those looking to collect books. These articles are an endeavour by our members to gather together useful threads and all of our users here are welcome to suggest pages to be added, or offer their own for inclusion.

Tolkien journals, blogs, societies, and podcasts

Tolkien journals, blogs, societies, and podcasts offers a handy list of external websites where you can find out more about Tolkien and related subjects in journals, blogs, etc. If you have suggestions, please add those to the thread and all suitable links will be added to the lists. This list is anything but exhaustive and if you have a website of your own, or others that you use that are not on the list but deserve to be, please post those on the thread there and we will update our list.

TolkienGuide Affiliate Store

Our store while not a store where books can be bought directly from TolkienGuide, offers useful links to retailers and all of the books found in the store are broken down into types that make deciding between editions easier. And if you require more help, post those questions on the forum and the members here will help. We do make a few pennies from the sales that help to defer the costs of the site.

TolkienGuide Discord Server

We try to have a monthly Meetup on our Discord Server, but also have additional discussion channels. The Discord server has less restrictions than the TolkienGuide Forums, as an example speculation is not allowed on the TolkienGuide Forums, but actively encouraged on Discord. When you join, please post that you are new member, so that we can add the correct permissions to your account.

Join Discord Server

And don't forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel where we review books, talk about events and interview interesting people from the world of Tolkien research and collecting.

Our friendly members are always happy to pitch in and help those of you looking for help, so don't hesitate to jump into the forums as you wish.

For members both new and old, if you look at your account page be sure to add your local time-zone. This will ensure that when events are posted using code, you will see the correct time for your own time-zones. All members are welcome to use that and it is very simple. See the image below for an example of how to write the code.

And don't forget our TERMS. While these are generally common sense rules, they exist to make everybody's experience here an enjoyable one.
