Really excited that The Old English Exodus is being reprinted. I have been wanting this for a long time. Do you think this will be limited to the boxset or will they make a standalone release of this one since it has been out of print so long?

Myths & Legends 2 (with reversible jackets!) coming in May, ISBN 9780008795184. The hardbacks will not be available separately, and The Old English Exodus – in its very first HarperCollins edition – has a new preface by the editor’s son, Thorlac Turville-Petre.

I think they’ve said with the previous box sets in this line, ie new format and covers, they wouldn’t further release them separately in hardcover?
But I guess that wouldn’t necessarily mean they won’t appear in paperback at some point. Exodus surely will get that treatment at some point I’d have thought.

I have asked about paperbacks, no plans at the moment, but I think they will appear as 'signature' paperbacks over the next couple of years.

Hahaha, first it was "just" 4 HoME box sets, then last year it was going to be 6 Christopher Tolkien Centenary Box Sets, now it's box No. 7. Since I don't own them in hardback... just recently purchased Battle of Maldon... I am actually quite happy about this and preordered it... and have already a spot I'll clear in the summer for it. The box looks great and I am happy it is only recently I have started collecting his work, so I won't have to double dip too much.

Won’t affect it at all. The first edition is expensive due to collectors, not readers.

Oh yes, couldn't agree more. The '81 volume will remain extremely desirable, especially the volumes without a price clipped jacket.

Yes, unfortunately I think this will absolutely be the case. Look, for example at the Saga of King Heidrek. Different price range from Exodus, obviously, but the widespread availability of the new paperback has not affected sale prices of the first edition copies, from what I've seen.
