Ideally, you would just tidy up a scan (or often a pair of scans -- as jackets are bigger than A4), but in this case I worked from decent photographs pulled from TCG eBay links. For something like this, you typically use layers to get the correct positioning of the elements and you can rebuild the text if need be on a higher layer, using the lower layer for positioning.

I'm not a massive facsimile fan, but they have their place. I have facsimiles on this, my 1942 Foyle's Hobbit, 1951 A&U Hobbit, and Huddersfield District Dialect -- three of those being editions where finding a jacketed copy is pretty unlikely. This particular title, I could certainly find a jacketed copy, but I wouldn't be willing to spend the money unless was very cheap.

I used Epson Velvet cotton rag Fine Art paper. Stupidly expensive, but I bought some on the company's tab (legitimately) when I wasn't a retired bum! A bit heavy at 260gsm, but it gave a nice effect.

Delivery via in-laws of random (cheap) stuff that has been sitting in the UK...

Bunch of paperback Hobbits, 1995 Hobbit (existing one had faded jacket), 1st Unwin Hyman Lays, 2nd Unwin Hyman WotR with the mid-green Jacket, Nasmith Silmarillion with the second version of the jacket and the 1989 BCA Lotr with the hideous red faux leather.

Only another 20-odd books sitting in the UK now! Better start adding a few more...
