I have sent an email to Mr. Cossio, and the reply is that he is also not sure whether it will be included in the June's issue or later issues, so it appears we will have to wait for the official announcement from the RES

Seems not possible to buy a physical copy of the journal yet?

My thought would be to band together a bunch of people who want a physical copy, and pass the hat around, then get the authors to use that money to pay for reprints/offprints from the publisher when it is actually in print. But although I found a webpage for a different OUP journal that mentioned this possibility, I cannot find such a statement for the journal RES. I find it unlikely the OUP wouldn't offer such a service, so perhaps someone could get in touch with the authors and ask if this was an option presented to them, and if they'd agree to participate in a plan. A fixed fee usually gets a certain number of copies, in my experience, even though I've never opted to buy them for things I've published. But perhaps times have changed.

Alright, the best I can find this this page from OUP that says to get in touch:

It would have to a bulk order of some amount, amount unspecified. Older issues of RES mentioned ordering author offprints in their back matter, back in the days when academic publishers were mildly less rapacious than today, and actually gave authors a small number of free physical copies of their own work with the option of buying more. I checked a recent edition and this is gone, only pointing to the website's "instructions for authors" which I already found did not mention the possibility.

I think this is a better option that people subscribing to to a year of the journal, and as a bonus, you get a cool little booklet like the old printed copies of Tolkien's published research articles. I make a wild guess it may well work out cheaper per physical copy than people subscribing (US$189 each!) and getting a bunch of other stuff not wanted. Someone who is interested should probably inquire.
