Seems to be close to what they have been selling for recently. One sold in September for the same price (boards were in better condition). Maybe the condition of this one would bring it down some.
I concur. Condition not amazing, and somewhat overpriced, but wouldn't put this as a "wonder".

MOD EDIT. THE SELLER HAS NOT LISTED THIS ITEM AS BEING SIGNED BY TOLKIEN.
Where? 6-7 years ago I didn't snag a 5th US Print for $475 and I haven't seen one for under $1k since. I got my 11th (with DJ) for about $150 2-3 years ago. US 10th for $10 even you have to know was a steal. I'm not doubting you, I'm just willing to travel!Pulch wrote:
Really?? I purchased my 2nd ed 1st state in slightly worse condition for $250 earlier this year. I also found an 11th for $120 and a US 10th for $10

Crazy price aside, where does this say it is signed by Tolkien on the listing?

It doesn't. I was similarly confused - I think maybe the OP meant: "for that price, it would need to be signed by Tolkien".

Yes I think that was intended to be sarcastic.
Regardless of the crazy price though Luckyshot we should keep this space clear of anything that could make others think the seller is trying to sell a modern title with a Tolkien signature in it. Whatever our opinion of the price, we should not give the impression that the seller is doing something they are not.

It’s not a “wonder” and it’s not really interesting either given the condition (terrible) and price. I would post this, really only for documentation purposes as these are so scarce. Perhaps we need a separate thread for listings like these…

Sorry, thought the /s was universally known. /jk would've been better, but not used as often.

Please do not state that an item is signed when the seller has made no such claim, any comment that you make should be factual.
