Very fortunate I was to get the Map of M-e one (of appaerently 50) at the 1992 Centenary auction. Quite a bidding war. There and Back again went to another. I had spent a lot that trip, including an original Blok, and many other posters & didn't think I should add another $200 or so on the Hobbit print. Both were signed by Baynes. Was told a Tolkien relation or friend decided to put theirs in the auction. The auction was to take, 4 hours but went past 8 I think. In the end they resorted to a Dutch auction.

Thanks for posting this, its such a great image.
And you dropped one in there...care to share which Blok you picked up? And at such an early date!

Awesome thanks for sharing. Nice to see one up close like that. I definitely see the texture! I have been tempted by the dwindling supply for years but can't make the math work on size vs cost.
When I scanned it for the Blok book I had to take it out of the mat. On the back was a draft of Bree. A twofer. It is in the book.
I'm going to turn this great thread into a new one showing the states of the UK and US poster, so that they can be identified more easily. Thank you to everyone who has submitted fantastic images to make this possible 😍
However, I would like to also include the US posters, do we know if the first trade US poster is shown in this thread and if so which one is it, or can anyone provide an image?
EDIT: we think it is this one.
