Books and other printed materials >> The Lord of the Rings: 70th Anniversary Deluxe (signed limited edition)
Folio Society LoTR took a day and a half to sell out the same number -- and that was also heavily driven by Folio collectors as well as Tolkien collectors. Of course, The Hobbit sold out in 17 minutes (but these are readily available at RRP on the secondary market).
I doubt it will sell out within minutes, given it is essentially the third version of the Folio edition, but happy to be proven wrong.

For those of you who have taken part in buying previous signed limited editions previously, how will it work when the time strikes? Will the current landing page be transformed into the buying page? Will you get a link via email if you signed up to be notified? Can you search it directly on the Harper Collins UK website?
Anything I should think about? I have registred an account and already put in my address.
Any common mistakes that one can do to fail getting a copy in time?
You may be interested to go back and read the thread when the Folio limited edition Hobbit was released last year (start here: https://www.tolkienguide.com/modules/n ... id=59855#forumpost59855).
It's a little bit different because it's Folio, not Harper Collins, and there was an existing page available to purchase, but with that release, it seems the book was actually available for purchase approximately 10 minutes before the email went out notifying everyone of the release, and the book was sold out within 5 minutes of the email being sent out, so about 15 minutes total from when it was released to when it was sold out, and even less time if you were relying on the email notification to buy. I haven't been following the forthcoming edition much and have no idea how it will release, but I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes available to buy through the website or from a social media posted link before the email goes out. As Mr. Underhill said, if you want to ensure you have a copy, be available and keeping an eye out during the release day/time.

Which means that it will sell out before I receive the newsletter 😅
Usually days after other people.
“ The initial selling price will be £750.”
There’s that word initial again Does that imply another price ?

I am a bit curious about the phrasing "limited to one per person". Does this indicate an active attempt to reduce the impact of scalpers who buy up a ton of copies to sell on the second-hand market for a highly inflated price? How does this compare to other limited editions recently sold (such as the Folio Lotr and Hobbit)? Could this have an impact on the rate at which the copies are sold?

They're leaving themselves wiggle room to lower the price if it does not sell out quickly. This has been the case for many of the high end, limited HC releases of the past.

ah. thanks
I think one of the things that I will look at more closely is how sturdy the black loops are that pulls our the drawers. From the announment video (00:22-00:28, 00:40), it looks like it goes inside the shelf and single volume hardcover weights on the order of 1 kg from checking Amazon and a few editions at home. It is a bit difficult for me to see what materials the black loops are made off from the video (00:28), but there is a dotted line on the sides. This seems to indicate that they are not too flimsy.
If I do end up getting this set and if the black loops are mere fabric that give me bad vibes, I may try to find alternative ways to remove an individual volume if I dare not use the black loops too much due to wear and tear. If they are more sturdy, I might use them. Then again, perhaps I should not even touch such an ultra deluxe limited edition set too much to begin with if it is a collectable that is just supposed to be there and look pretty. The bane of collecting: the nicer the edition, the more you want to handle it, look at it and read it, but the more reluctant you become to do so.
