I don't know if "The Wonders Of..." is the place for this, but the description says that the DJ is not only laminated... but GLUED to the boards

Pretty common for ex-library copies. The boards are cut down smaller as well. Personally, I'd consider this book to be worthless, but I guess someone might want it if it was cheap enough.

Agreed, I have a couple of these (1960's printings), and I think I paid under $20 for each.
Buyer beware here, Tolkien didn't sign that many HMCO Hobbits, if any at all. The signature is in the wrong place in the book from where Tolkien usually signed, the signature doesn't look right to me neither. No provenance to speak of...I wouldn't touch this listing.
Not really a wonder, but be careful of this one - the seller fails to mention that the jacket is laminated, rather than being a Brodart.
I think this might be the highest asking price I've ever seen for this volume...what a world!
I think I'll list mine for $1000, LOL

You'll have to go higher than that lol. I saw one listed last year for $1200. Pretty sure it never sold though.
